Last weekend the fifth round of the of the Prototype Cup Germany took place on the TT Circuit in Assen (NL), where Racing Experience secured the title in the GT&Protoype Challenge last October with Lea Mauer and Gary Hauser.

Racing Experience entered again two Duqueine D08 LMP3, #15 with the championship leaders Gary Hauser and Markus Pommer and the #12 car of bronze driver Wolfgang Payr and David Hauser who made his comeback after a break of 2 years and replaced Kevin Rohrscheidt.

On Friday the racing action started with the two free practice sessions which went well for both cars, gathering important data to adjust the setup and landed both cars in the top 10 at the end of the day in the timing sheets.

On Saturday morning, Markus sat in the car for the first qualifying session and secured the first pole position for the #15 with an impressive 3 tenths gap to P2. David qualified the #12 in P10 of the 15 cars on the grid.

Race 1 started on Saturday afternoon where  Markus was able to convert his pole into the race lead and started to built a gap to the comptetitors before the safety car needed to come out on track. David had a good first stint and was able to hand over the car in P6 while Markus kept the lead throughout the first half of the race. Gary managed his race stint perfectly with the biggest close behind before the latter one attempted and very optimistic overtake and crashed into the #15 a few laps before the end. The race director handed our title rival a 5 second penalty for his move which secured the victory for Gary and Markus. Wolfgang brought the #12 back home in P13.

Q2 took place on Sunday morning and Gary was ready to hit the track for #15, but did not manage to put all his sectors together and qualified the car in P4 while Wolfgang in the #12 qualified in P15.

Race 2 was scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Gary took the start in the #15 and was able to avoid a first lap chaos where several comptitors spun and crashed but dropped him back to P7. As our biggest title rival, the #6 JVO car, crashed out in the frist lap, Gary played it safe and kept his position throughout his stint and entered the pits as soon as the pit window opened. Markus attacked and was able to catch the leaders while sitting in P3. A few minutes before the end of the race the leading #77 of DKR spun into the gravels which meant that we were going to be crowned champions of the 2023 ADAC Protoype Cup with two races to go.

Wolfgang was able to avoid all the chaos at the start and hand over the car running in P10. David was then able set very competitive laptimes and ended the race in a season best P6.The #15 car with Gary Hauser and Markus Pommer extended now the Championship lead to 56 points with 50 points availabe and are thus no longer able to be caught by a rival.

In the team standings, Racing Experience leads van Ommen racing by Datalab by 11 points.

Christian Hauser, Racing Experience Team Owner, said, “I am so proud of our team and every team member. Neither the crew nor the drivers did any mistakes and that’s why we deserve the title!”
