Home Sweet Home for Racing Experience this weekend

The Racing Experience team is gearing up for its home race this weekend as the second round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup takes place at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps – just 130km away from the Hauser family’s hometown of Wormeldange, Luxembourg.

The team will be looking forward to continuing the pace shown in the season opener last month at Le Castellet, after the team fought their way into a top five position in their new Duqueine D08 LMP3 car before a broken driveshaft forced the team to retire from the race.

Nicolas Mélin is also welcomed back to the Racing Experience outfit this weekend. The French driver rejoins as the team’s bronze driver, having completed a number of races in the no. 11 car last season. Mélin will partner David Hauser, who is once again alternating races with brother Gary throughout the season.

Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is a classic circuit, renowned for its fast straights, sweeping corners and unpredictable weather. Featuring world famous corners such as Eau Rouge, Raidillon, Les Combes, Fagnes, Stavelot and La Source, the 7km circuit is beloved by drivers and fans alike.

Christian Hauser, team principal Racing Experience, said: “It is always very special to race at your home track. Not only is it a circuit that is familiar to us, but even the shorter journey to the track can make a difference to how race-ready we feel on Saturday. Both David and Nicolas know this circuit intimately and they are both motivated to get a good result this weekend. Last year’s Spa race was cut short due to a compulsory panel coming loose on the rear of our car, but we were on course for our best finish of the season, so we are hoping for a good result this weekend.”

David Hauser, Racing Experience driver said: “I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the car this weekend. I didn’t race in the Spa round last season, so I am eager to make the most of the experience this year. This is a circuit I know very well from racing in different categories over the years, so my priority is on supporting Nicolas in getting up to speed in the new car and then following our race strategy and hopefully we will come home with big smiles on our faces.”

Nicolas Mélin, Racing Experience driver said: It’s great to be back with the team this weekend. I really enjoyed racing in this championship last season, and we had some great battles on track. Racing Experience really feels like a family team and I know that I have all the resources I need to make a good start this weekend. I hope that I can have a good qualifying session and then the focus will be on a clean start. I want to play my part in bringing home a good haul of points on Saturday.”

The race kicks off at 1555 local time.
